Sidi bel-abbes

Sidi Bel Abbes is an Algerian province located in the heart of the Ouarane sector in western Algeria.

The capital of the state is located at an altitude of 470 m in the center of the plateau at the foot of the mountains of the Tessala mountains in the north and the mountains of Daya in the south.

The area was inhabited by the tribe of Bani Hamid, one of the tribes of Bani Amer from the 14th century. By the arrival of the French in 1843, General Baudou recognized its strategic importance and set up a reserve on the banks of the River Makra beside the dome of the good guardian Sidi Bel Abbes.

The sons of Amer resisted the occupation in 1845, which led to their retreat and weak alliances after they faced the colonial project fiercely and did not rest until France established a military garrison turned into a military city in the current place of the city of Sidi Bel Abbes.
