The Hamma Test Garden, located in the Hamma district of Algiers, is a lush garden, which extends in amphitheater, at the foot of the National Museum of Fine Arts of Algiers, from Mohamed Belouizdad street to the street Hassiba Ben Bouali, on an area  of 58 hectares (38 hectares of garden and 20 hectares of arboretum).

Created in 1832, it is considered one of the most important test and acclimatization gardens in the world.

The test garden is served by the Algiers metro station Test Garden.

The Test Garden is not only a botanical or horticultural production center but also a teaching center and a place of walk much appreciated by the inhabitants of Algiers.  There are more than 1,200 plant species.

The park is like a green break on the Algerian coast in the axis of Maqam E'chahid and the National Museum of Fine Arts.  It is bordered on the north by Hassiba Ben Bouali street and the bay, on the south by Belouizdad street, on the east by the stadium of August 20, 1955 and on the west by the Hamma esplanade with the Sofitel hotel.  the National Library.

The west wing of the garden is occupied by the French garden, bordered by washingtonias.  It is separated from the old garden located further east by the avenue of the plane trees, perpendicular to the road as the alley of the dragon trees and the alley of ficus, cut themselves many parallel paths to the road of which the two main ones are  the bamboo alley and the palm alley.  A circular alley to the south-east, the alley of cocos, bypasses the English garden with a small lake with aquatic plants.  A Japanese garden was also built but no longer exists.  Several stone sculptures by Émile Gaudissard adorn the aisles.

What strikes the visitor is this striking contrast between the carefully cut and arranged terraced French garden, offering a unique panorama of the sea and the rest of the garden where, tropical flora, tree trunks with tortuous forms and exuberant creepers plunge us into an exotic plant  universe unknown at these latitudes.

At the northern end of the alley of the dragon trees is the zoo that brings together specimens of North African wildlife and some wild animals.
