Bijaia

The city of Béja (a (Bgayet, ⴱⴳⴰⵢⴻⵜ Pyth or Pyth), written in Tifinagh (Vgayeth amazigh.png and French: Béjaïa), also named: Salda, Nasiriyah, and Bougie, is an Algerian city on the Mediterranean coast with a beach overlooking the bay. Bejaia is one of the most important tourist areas in Algeria due to the picturesque places available in it, such as the Kourah summit, the carbon head, the ape peak, the Kasbah of the city of Bejaia, the island of Djerba in Boulemayat on the west coast.

It is also one of the most important oil terminals in Algeria, where the pipelines flowing from the wells of Hassi Messaoud in the far south and from which they are exported to the world. It is also a commercial and industrial city where traditional crafts flourish along with modern industries, the most important of which are petrochemicals and chemical products such as medicines, detergents and pesticides.

Bejaia is a long-standing Algerian historical city founded by Nasser ibn Allanas ibn Hammad ibn Ziri, one of the kings of Beni Hammad in Algeria in the second half of the fifth century AH, so also called Nasiriyah relative to him.
