Annaba

Annaba is the fourth largest city in Algeria by the number of its inhabitants and by the importance of its port and its industrial zone. Nevertheless, it remains a pleasant seaside town with a southern flair. In the eleventh century BC, the Phoenicians set up 

In the first century BC, the city and its port flourished and became one of the centers of Christianity. In the fifth century AD, the city was stormed by the Vandals who remained there for nearly a century before being dislodged by the Byzantines. The Arabs will later build a city on a hill 2 kilometers from the center and the city will later become Annaba. In 1533 Kheir Ed-Dine seizes the city that resurrects as the eastern port and access route to Constantine. During the second world war, Annaba, become French since 1832, undergoes heavy bombardments and sees the allied troops disembark in 1942.
